Patients requiring joint replacement procedures in Cyprus can now benefit from advanced robotic-assisted surgery following the introduction of a new surgical system at Nicosia General Hospital. The technology upgrade aims to enhance orthopaedic services by supporting surgeons with greater precision and personalised planning during operations.

The robotic system is designed to assist with procedures including knee replacements, revision surgeries and hip arthroplasties. Using real-time digital planning and advanced sensors, the technology helps medical teams analyse each patient’s anatomy, optimise implant positioning and make precise adjustments during surgery, while the surgeon remains fully in control throughout the procedure.

The introduction of this technology is expected to strengthen local access to specialised orthopaedic care, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. Healthcare providers highlighted that the new system represents an important step towards modernising surgical services and improving patient experience, recovery and long-term outcomes.
