New community spaces planned for Limassol's mountain region

One year after the devastating wildfire that affected several mountain communities in the Limassol district, work is moving forward on a series of projects designed to support recovery and create new spaces for residents. The initiative focuses on improving public areas, encouraging community life and helping villages rebuild for the future.

The planned projects include new parks, playgrounds, walking and fitness areas, sports facilities, cafés and relaxing green spaces. Some villages will also benefit from cultural and event areas, reading gardens and family-friendly recreation zones, all designed to blend naturally with the surrounding landscape and provide places that can be enjoyed throughout the day by people of all ages.

Additional plans include a new community sports complex, upgraded public gathering spaces and landscaping works aimed at bringing new life to the affected areas. Construction is expected to move ahead over the coming months, with the goal of creating welcoming spaces that support local communities, encourage visitors and strengthen the long-term future of the region.
