Construction activity on the rise in Larnaca
Building applications in Larnaca have surged in the first seven months of 2025, increasing by 53% compared to the same period last year. A total of 1,295 applications were submitted, up from 844 in 2024 and 749 in 2022, showing a steady rise in construction activity across the city and district.
The increase is driven by several factors, including the full implementation of the digital system Hippodamos, which allows 24/7 online submission of applications. Government housing policies, updated urban planning incentives, and the Urban Planning Amnesty Plan have also encouraged more applications. Changes to renewable energy regulations have further supported the growth in construction requests.
Larnaca’s local government organisation (EOA) is working to process the higher volume of applications efficiently, aiming to provide quicker permit approvals. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to support sustainable development and strengthen the city’s appeal to citizens and investors.
