About 20 kilometers from the city of Limassol, there is the village of Monagri, which is located in the Limassol district. Maps from the Frankish era show the settlement as Monag or Monagri and it has been reported that a number of families lived there in the Middle Ages. The words "moni" and "agrin," which both refer to a little valley, are where the village gets its name. As a result, the settlement was given the name Monagri because it initially started to being established around a tiny monastery.
