Drivers across Cyprus will soon benefit from real-time traffic updates, as a new network of digital message signs is rolled out across motorways and urban areas. The system will provide live information on road conditions, accidents, roadworks and emergency situations, helping motorists plan safer and more efficient journeys.

A total of 40 electronic signs are being installed, with half placed along major highways and the rest distributed across cities and suburban areas, including Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and the Famagusta district. The larger motorway signs are designed for high-speed visibility, while smaller units are adapted for urban settings. Most installations are already in place, with full operation expected within the coming months as final connections are completed.

The project forms part of a broader upgrade to the island’s digital mobility system, which also includes advanced traffic monitoring tools such as cameras, detection units and smart sensors. Together, these improvements aim to enhance road safety, reduce congestion and provide a more connected and responsive transport network across Cyprus.
