Limnatis is a semi-mountainous village located in the district of Limassol. The village’s site has a lengthy past. Tombs from the Classical period have been found there and provide as proof that the area was populated throughout this time. The fact that the inspiration for Limnati’s name comes from the Greek word “limni”, could be a clue as to when it was established, possibly during the Byzantine period.
The village offers its residents a little picnic area to escape from everyday life and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. What is more, Limnatis has also a cultural center with stunning views and it is located in the northern portion of the village. A playground and outdoor amphitheater are available for events.
What is worth mentioning is the fact that the settlement is Cyprus’s top producing village for almonds. In February, when almond trees are in full bloom, it creates a beautiful spectacle. Hence, at the village’s entrance residents and visitors can take a sit and relax while taking in the amazing view. The Festival of the Blooming Almond Tree, which takes place in Limnatis every year between the end of February and the beginning of March, showcases almond products that were produced in the village, in an outdoor setting.
