Alaminos is a village in the district of Larnaca which is built approximately 28 kilometers from Larnaca and is next to the villages of Agios Theodoros, Kofinou, Anafotia and Mazotos. It is situated averagely 75 meters above sea level. The village has been inhabited by genuine Turks a long time ago, and based on this follows that the village was a medieval fief that the Turks annexed following their invasion of Cyprus in 1570–1571. The village is identified as “Alamino” on historical maps.
The settlement of Alaminos is exceptionally stunning and charming. The village's fountains, arches, traditional homes, school, hero monuments, churches, and majestic fortress with a stunning view of the sea, can all be found as one strolls along its alleys. Old traditional homes with green courtyards stand out impressively on the village's streets. The majority of these homes have mostly not undergone any renovation, testifying to the area's rich past. They stand between the new and restored structures. They are made of "volitzia" and "brick."
The old church of Agios Mamas, a 1600 structure that is now recognized as an Ancient Monument, is a dominant structure in Alaminos. Just outside the village of Alaminos, the visitor will see the glorious and imposing "Koula" building of the 15th century. It is a long, narrow, parallelepiped-shaped stone castle that was once utilized by the villagers to view and confront their enemies from the sea.
Alaminos is mostly a residential area and the real estate here includes houses, land and plot. It is a beautiful village to reside next to the sea and close to Larnaca city, but also Limassol.
