Larnaca's iconic Piale Pasha promenade has received significant renovations, transforming it into a lovely destination. The project, aimed at revitalizing the lively street that connects Phinikoudes and Mackenzie, and has brought new life to the area's Turkish-Cypriot neighborhood of Scala.

Scheduled for completion this month, the renovation faced minor delays due to challenges encountered in two buildings near the Medieval Castle. Mayor Andreas Vyras reported that the project is now expected to conclude by mid-March, with final touches underway.

Remaining tasks include renovations in a refugee apartment building, where insulation and demolitions are in progress, and addressing the discovery of an archaeological wall in one of the houses, pending instructions from the Department of Antiquities.

The renovated buildings now have a fresh white facade with bright windows and doors, adding vibrancy to the area. Select buildings near the Medieval Castle have been painted with historically inspired hues, curated by a team of local artists.

Before painting, extensive architectural work was done, including the replacement of deteriorating beams and the removal of elements inconsistent with the area's character.

In addition to the architectural improvements, the Mediterranean Artists' Park will open on Friday, providing a peaceful retreat with rich greenery and a stunning water feature. The park, located in the center of the Artists' Neighborhood, is going to host outdoor exhibitions and cultural events.

Looking ahead, plans are in place to further enhance the neighborhood by paving streets such as Ak Deniz, Seyhan, Dag Boz, and Boz Kurt.

Meanwhile, attempts are being made to repair erosion-damaged portions of Piale Pasha's coastline pedestrian promenade. The Municipality of Larnaca has initiated a tendering process to pick contractors for improvement works, with the first activities scheduled to begin in the summer.
