Kannaviou is a village situated in the district of Paphos, Cyprus. The village gets its name from the abundant cannabis plant that used to grow there in the past. The plant fibers were used to make ropes, twine, nets, and cloths. Today, however, there is no cannabis plant in the village to remind people of its history. Instead, there are plenty of vineyards, olive trees, grapefruit trees, oak trees, and plane trees that give the area a unique natural beauty.
Make sure not to miss out on a stroll to Asprogia-Kannaviou Dam, where you can witness the stunning forest of Paphos that begins from that point. While you're there, take the opportunity to visit the charming chapel of Panagia Chryseleousa, which provides panoramic views of Kannaviou. For a serene and peaceful experience, head to the lovely picnic site of Kannaviou, surrounded by towering plantains and bisected by the Ezousa River, the sixth largest river in Cyprus.
