The Limassol district’s Parekklisia village was established close to ancient Amathus. The community is noted for its olive trees and vineyards and is situated in a steep terrain. The village is conveniently close to the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Limassol and is situated in a lovely and picturesque area of Cyprus. Most residents of the village work in the Limassol tourism sector.
The Cyprus Archaeological Museum claims that building ruins discovered during recent French excavations in a region close to the hamlet represent the oldest structures ever discovered in Cyprus. The Church of the Holy Cross (Timios Stavros) or a paraphrase of the names Palioklissos or Panoklissia, referring to Venetian maps and localities close to the existing village, are the most likely sources of the name Parekklisia.
