A major flood control project is moving forward in Paralimni, following approval of co-financing for a large-scale infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving water management in the area. The project, with a total budget of over €14 million, is designed to address long-standing flooding concerns and enhance safety for residents.

The works are expected to significantly improve the handling of rainwater, reducing the risk of flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. By strengthening drainage systems and upgrading key infrastructure, the project aims to better protect homes, businesses and public spaces, while supporting the smooth functioning of daily life in the community.

Beyond immediate safety benefits, the initiative forms part of a broader effort to improve resilience and promote sustainable development across the Famagusta District. Authorities say such projects play a vital role in enhancing quality of life, ensuring that local communities are better prepared to respond to environmental challenges in the years ahead.
