First deliveries of the “Ktizo” housing project enter final stage
Two and a half years after the launch of the Ktizo housing programme, the first new refugee apartment building in Latsia is expected to be delivered next month. The five buildings currently under construction form part of the project’s first phase and will rehouse residents from 12 older apartment blocks that were demolished due to safety concerns.
The wider plan includes further developments across several areas. Construction of a new apartment building in the Makarios settlement in Limassol is expected to begin in early 2026, while planning permits are also being prepared for additional buildings in Agios Athanasios and Linopetra. The second and third phases of the Ktizo project will extend support to around 70 more apartment buildings, focusing on structural upgrades, smaller-scale repairs and the installation of elevators.
In cases where residents have refused to vacate unsafe buildings, legal procedures have been initiated, while alternative plots are being identified to avoid delays and allow construction to proceed. A comprehensive review of the project’s progress is scheduled later this month, with authorities assessing timelines and next steps for the continued implementation of the housing plan.
