Taking off: Cyprus invests €170M in airport upgrades
Cyprus has officially launched a major €170 million expansion project for Larnaca and Paphos airports, marking a new phase of development aimed at improving capacity and passenger experience. President Nikos Christodoulides laid the foundation stone in a ceremony organized by Hermes Airports, which is fully funding the project.
At Larnaca Airport, the expansion includes a new wing with more gates, extra baggage reclaim belts, updated passport control areas, and larger commercial zones — increasing capacity to 12.4 million passengers annually. Paphos Airport will also expand its terminal by 30%, making operations more efficient and smoother for travelers. Construction is already underway and expected to be completed in about 2.5 years.
This upgrade is a positive step for Cyprus’s infrastructure and tourism sector, supporting future growth and improving the island’s appeal as a travel and investment destination.
