More than 5,200 students from schools across Cyprus visited the Akrotiri peninsula during the past school year, taking part in hands-on environmental activities that brought learning beyond the classroom. The educational visits gave children and young people the chance to explore one of the island’s most important natural areas while discovering its unique wildlife, wetlands and coastal landscapes.

During their visits, students learned about the area's rich biodiversity through interactive activities, nature walks, birdwatching, educational exhibitions and outdoor workshops. The programmes encouraged participants to connect with nature, understand the importance of protecting the environment and experience learning in a fun and engaging way.

Designed for children of different age groups, the activities included nature exploration, creative workshops and environmental awareness sessions. The programme continues to inspire young people to appreciate Cyprus' natural heritage while promoting respect for wildlife and the environment through memorable outdoor experiences.
