The village of Kivides lies 26 kilometers west of Limassol in the city’s district. It is 60 kilometers from Paphos, over 90 kilometers from Larnaca, and more than 100 kilometers from Nicosia. The first mention of Kivides was found in connection with the medieval family de Kivides during the Frankish era.
Currently, the village is split into two communities that are a couple of kilometers apart: the Pano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Kivides. The Upper Kivides was built more recently, while the Lower Kivides, which is situated on a lush green hillside has been abandoned.
