Mari is a village in the district of Larnaca, about 39 kilometers southwest of the city of Larnaca. Mari is built at an average altitude of 80 meters with its western borders being part of the administrative boundaries of Nicosia - Larnaca districts. Very close to the east of the settlement flows the Vasilikos river. Mari is located very close to the old Nicosia-Limassol Road. It is also connected to the southeast with the industrial settlement of Vasilikos which is included in its administrative boundaries.
In Vassiliko, three large industrial units are installed and operating today, the beneficiation and processing plant for sulfur and copper ores, the cement plant and the fertilizer production plant. Besides, Vassiliko has a port with the necessary mechanical equipment and the appropriate port facilities for the export of the products of the industrial complex. The port was built in 1980, a time when the small railway that transported the ore to the ships for export also ceased to operate.
