Latsia is an independent municipality in the district of Nicosia. It is located 190 meters above sea level and is 7 kilometers away from Nicosia city. It is separated administratively into three parishes: Agios Eleftherios, Agios Georgios, and the Archangel Michael Refugee Settlement.
According to a popular theory, the name Latsia was derived from the Cypriot words "Latsin" and "Lakkoi," both of which imply little wells.
