At an elevation of 880 meters, the settlement of Pelendri is located in the district of Limassol, on Pitsilia's westernmost point. It has provided labor for the nearby asbestos mine of Amiantos for many years, and this occupation served as one of the primary reasons behind the growth of the community. The village currently has 1,237 residents (World Population Review).
The local traditional style of architecture is quite apparent in most of the homes in Pelendri, and thus, the community council building and the open-air event space that is to be found there followed this architectural style too. What is more, the community has abundant water thanks to the tributaries that flow through it. As a result, in addition to the area’s rich woodland, there are a lot of different kinds of trees growing, as well as vegetables that are all farmed, and contribute to the village’s rich flora.
There is also a renowned winery in the area which is located just a bit from the village’s entrance, and has some of the island’s most cutting-edge equipment for winemaking, but also the wine that is being produced there has consistently won praise throughout the world.
Moreover, the village also has to offer some amenities and services such as eateries, taverns, cafes, etc. There is an observatory available too which provides stunning views of the nearby landscape and the village itself. It is a great place for people to go if they want to enjoy some peace and quiet because the populated areas are located at a distance from there. Residents can also take advantage of the lovely picnic area in the settlement with the presence of various trees and kiosks that are operating during warmer months.
