The village of Kivides lies 26 kilometers west of Limassol in the city’s district. It is 60 kilometers from Paphos, over 90 kilometers from Larnaca, and more than 100 kilometers from Nicosia. The first mention of Kivides was found in connection with the medieval family de Kivides during the Frankish era.
Currently, the village is split into two communities that are a couple of kilometers apart: the Pano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Kivides. The Upper Kivides was built more recently, while the Lower Kivides, which is situated on a lush green hillside has been abandoned. The community is very charming and beautiful, giving people a glimpse of the traditional lifestyle in Cyprus.
Most residents of Kivides are working in the cities nearby, which also offer all amenities and services that someone may need. Moreover, the village is home to an admirable extraordinary traditional building and a community park which is great to walk or hang out. In the center of the village there is the church of Agios Panteleimonas.
