Modern, affordable care home in Larnaca set to open in January 2026
Larnaca Municipality has completed one of the island’s most modern care homes, the Evanthia Pieridou Care Home, located in the Sotiros area. The €3.5 million project—co-financed by the European Social Fund under the THALIA 2021–2027 programme—will provide high-quality accommodation for 48 low-income pensioners at minimal fees during its first years of operation. The facility was completed three months ahead of schedule and will begin operating in January 2026, with applications for a director open until November 28.
The new care home includes advanced technology systems, smart hearing aid solutions, and eco-friendly features such as photovoltaic panels, underfloor heating, and energy-efficient lighting. The three-storey building offers 22 double rooms and 4 single rooms, as well as communal facilities like a dining room, medical and entertainment areas, and a hairdressing salon.
Mayor Andreas Vyras said the project reflects Larnaca’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of its elderly citizens. Fully accessible to people with disabilities, the care home will prioritise residents based on social and financial criteria, ensuring that the city’s seniors can live comfortably and safely in a modern, supportive environment.
