Long-awaited Paphos Marina project finally moves forward

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism has officially launched the tender process for the long-awaited Paphos Marina project, to be built in the Potima area of Kissonerga. The development will proceed under a long-term DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Transfer) concession agreement and is set to include a modern marina with 1,000 berths for leisure craft, alongside residential and commercial spaces, hotel facilities, and even optional cruise ship infrastructure. Covering 165,000 square metres, the marina is one of 75 major projects planned for the Paphos region, with a combined budget exceeding €230 million.

The tender has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus Gazette, with all procedures managed through the Cyprus eProcurement platform. Interested investors are now invited to submit their Expressions of Interest, signalling renewed momentum after decades of delays.

The marina project has faced over 30 years of setbacks, from legal disputes and cancelled tenders to shifting concessionaires and appeals. Despite this turbulent history, the latest announcement represents the most concrete step forward in years, offering Paphos fresh hope that its long-promised marina will finally become a reality.
