Cyprus starts electric car subsidy scheme

With the introduction of forty new electric vehicles for government use, Cyprus is taking steps towards a sustainable future. Along with introducing these environmentally friendly vehicles, the Minister hinted in December at a potential subsidy scheme, indicating a larger commitment to transportation that is cleaner and more accessible.

Forty new electric cars have arrived for government use in Cyprus, signaling the country's welcome of a greener future. With the introduction of these eco-friendly cars, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis took a step toward replacing outdated, polluting cars and achieving environmental objectives.

In December, Vafeadis shared plans for a new set of subsidies designed to increase public access to electric vehicles. In order to meet the demands of the growing electric vehicles, he guaranteed that the government is also preparing to install charging points in its buildings.

Vafeadis announced plans to install chargers at petrol stations in order to address infrastructure problems and guarantee that owners of electric vehicles would have extensive access.

The operations manager for MG Cyprus, Stelios Asimenos, thanked the team for the cooperation and emphasized MG's dedication to helping Cyprus transition to green energy.

The electric vehicles were purchased for €1,466,080.00, in line with the EU's clean vehicle goals. In keeping with Cyprus's goal of electric mobility, the Department of Electromechanical Services will also set up charging points at the locations where the new electric cars will be deployed.
