Cyprus shows improvement in corruption index
Cyprus has made notable progress in the 2024 Corruption Perception Index, improving both its score and global ranking, according to the Cyprus Integrity Forum. The country’s score rose from 53 in 2023 to 56 in 2024, moving up three places to 46th out of 180 countries. This marks the second consecutive year of improvement, highlighting the impact of anti-corruption measures and growing public awareness.
The Cyprus Integrity Forum praised this progress but warned against complacency, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to promote transparency and ethical practices across all sectors. The organization remains committed to monitoring corruption levels and raising awareness of its consequences.
President Nikos Christodoulides has expressed confidence in Cyprus’s potential to become a model in combating corruption. While the latest improvements are encouraging, maintaining momentum will be key to ensuring lasting change.
