€80 million municipal and community development projects in new financial framework
The Medium-Term Financial Framework (MTFF) 2025-2027 allocates €310 million for municipal and community development, with €165 million for urban projects and €145 million for rural initiatives.
Seven significant urban projects totaling €79.4 million include:
- Argyroupoleos Avenue construction and adjacent road improvements
This project involves the construction of Argyroupoleos Avenue (from the GSP interchange to Tseriou Avenue) and the widening of Ippokratous Avenue, including parts of the southern extension of Tseriou Avenue in Strovolos and Lakatamia. Budget: €18.5 million. - Primary road connection to the Nicosia-Limassol highway
Development of an important road linking the Makarios Sports Center to the Nicosia-Limassol highway via Alexandroupoli, Pythonas, Iraklis, and Stavrou avenues. Budget: €14.5 million. - Upgrades to Tseriou Avenue (Phases A & B)
Enhancements to Tseriou Avenue in the Strovolos and Lakatamia regions. Budget: €12.8 million. - Flood control measures for urban areas
Implementation of a stormwater drainage plan, including flood control projects in Limassol and Larnaca's Kamares area. Budget: €10.5 million. - Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road improvements (Phase C)
Continued upgrades to this key coastal road. Budget: €8.8 million. - Road improvements connecting Deryneia and Sotira
Enhancing connectivity between the two communities. Budget: €8.8 million. - Main road upgrades in Kato Defteras (Phase B)
Further improvements to the area's main roadway. Budget: €5.5 million.
Rural development and special projects
Rural development receives €194 million, including €45 million for 2025. Key allocations:
Community buildings: €5.8 million in 2025 and €16.6 million over three years will go toward constructing or improving community infrastructure.
Additional rural projects: A savings allocation program will fund €5-7 million worth of additional rural initiatives annually.
Community council sponsorships: €18 million in 2025 and €54 million over three years.
Marathasa development plan: €0.6 million in 2025 and €1.8 million over three years.
Support for high-altitude and remote communities: €8 million in 2025 and €24 million over three years.
Tillyria region development plan: €0.4 million in 2025 and €1.3 million over three years.
These investments aim to enhance infrastructure and living conditions across urban and rural areas.
