Ten solar projects drive Cyprus toward cleaner energy
Plans are moving forward for the development of ten new solar parks across Cyprus, with a combined capacity of 26.7 megawatts. Environmental studies for all projects have been completed and submitted for public consultation, marking an important step toward expanding renewable energy on the island. Some of the installations are also expected to include energy storage systems, further strengthening energy efficiency and reliability.
The proposed sites are spread across multiple regions, including Larnaca, Limassol, Nicosia and Paphos. While several projects are planned on agricultural land, discussions are ongoing regarding land use and environmental considerations. Supporters highlight the benefits of reducing reliance on conventional fuels and lowering emissions, while also contributing to national renewable energy goals.
Among the proposed developments, the largest installation is planned in Tseri, with additional major projects in areas such as Kornos and Dromolaxia. Together, these projects represent a significant investment in cleaner energy and signal a broader shift toward sustainable power solutions, balancing development with environmental and community considerations.
