Students in secondary schools across Cyprus are set to experience a new era of hands-on learning, as classrooms are equipped with advanced tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters and virtual reality applications. The initiative is upgrading hundreds of school laboratories, bringing modern technology into subjects like science and design to better reflect today’s educational needs.

The programme covers laboratories in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Design and Technology across schools in all districts. The first phase, already underway, includes the upgrade of more than 200 labs with specialised equipment for experiments, measurements and interactive learning. A second phase will expand the rollout further, introducing additional tools such as virtual reality systems, enhanced lab facilities and digital applications to enrich the classroom experience.

By mid-2026, more than 300 laboratories are expected to be fully equipped, marking a major step forward in modernising education. The upgrades aim to strengthen practical skills, encourage innovation and better prepare students for future studies and evolving career paths in science and technology.
