The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, together with the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization (CAPO) and the Department of Forestry, has launched Intervention AA 4.3.1: “Investments to improve the value of forests as a public good” under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023–2027. A total of €1,275,000 has been set aside for projects that protect forests, improve public access, and increase awareness of their value.

The initiative focuses on upgrading forest recreation areas, including hiking trails, camping sites, small picnic areas, and Environmental Information Centers. The goal is to help visitors enjoy the forests safely, reduce the risk of fires, and teach the public about protecting biodiversity and the natural and cultural value of forests.

The program is open to state and local authorities, NGOs, non-profits, parents’ associations, scout groups, and religious organizations. It applies to all forests and wooded areas under state control in Cyprus.

Interested parties can download the application forms from the CAP, CAPO, and Forestry Department websites. Applications are open until 20 January 2026 and can be submitted at forestry offices in Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos.
