Alassa, is a village in the district of Limassol, located around 12 kilometers distant from the city and was constructed 440 meters above sea level. It shares boundaries with Ypsonas to the south, Kantou to the southwest, Souni-Zanatzia to the west, Agios Therapon and Lofou to the northwest, Monagri and Doros to the north, Limnati to the northeast, and Paramytha to the east. It is significant that the Kouris Dam, Cyprus' largest dam, is located on community-owned property, specifically to the north of the hamlet. Historical accounts claim that the settlement of Alassa has been inhabited since the seventeenth century BC.
Alassa has a new community, which is made up of modern houses and was constructed to the north of the old settlement of the village. The old one does no longer exist due its submersion in the artificial lake of Kouris. Sometimes the old church of Agios Nikolaos can be seen when the water level is low, and many visitors are taking photos of the view. The village is home to a number of historical sites and it is known for its fertile land, but also for its agriculture which contributes to the local economy.
