Strovolos boosts emergency response fleet with new specialised vehicle

Strovolos municipality has strengthened its emergency response capabilities with the addition of a new specialised vehicle designed to enhance frontline operations across the area. The vehicle was officially received at the municipal hall on Friday and is expected to improve response times and operational efficiency in handling day-to-day incidents.

Custom-built to meet the service’s specific needs, the new vehicle is equipped to support a wide range of municipal duties. These include the capture of stray dogs, the collection of dead animals, the removal of hazardous objects from roads, and rapid deployment during severe weather conditions. Its design allows emergency crews to respond quickly and effectively to situations affecting public safety and environmental hygiene.

The van features a rear ramp, animal transport cages, dedicated storage compartments and other functional fittings that enable teams to carry out multiple tasks without requiring additional vehicles or equipment. Municipal officials described the addition as an important upgrade that will optimise operations throughout Strovolos, reinforcing the role of the emergency response service as a key first responder to incidents impacting public health, road safety and community wellbeing.
